What’s the difference between fillers and wrinkle relaxers?

Fillers and wrinkle relaxers both refresh and rejuvenate your appearance, but they work in different ways.

Fillers restore or add volume beneath the skin. They add volume or restore lost volume to lips, lift cheeks, smooth folds, and define facial contours by filling areas that have lost structure over time. Results are immediate and can last several months to over a year, depending on the product used and the area being treated.

Wrinkle relaxers, such as Botox, Jeuveau, or Daxxify, target the muscles that create expression lines. They soften wrinkles caused by movement, like frown lines or crow’s feet, without changing your natural expression.

At Summers Medical Aesthetics, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, saunas, facials, or direct heat for 24 to 48 hours. After lip injections we advise not drinking out of a straw for 3 days post injection. Following these simple steps helps your filler settle smoothly.

You’ll see results from your filler treatment immediately. The treated area will look fuller and more defined right away, though you might notice mild swelling or tenderness for a few days. As the filler settles and integrates with your natural tissue, your final results continue to develop over the course of about 1 to 2 weeks.
